Between shut downs and crazy weather you may be wondering what is happening in Yosemite. Its been an interesting year for couples to try and navigate the park. With road closers, flooding, and renovations, Yosemite has just been a hot mess. I wanted to touch on what is happening now and what things look like as we book weddings for 2024.
Roads into Yosemite –
Hwy 41 – open with some delays because of road work and 1 lane roads – (expect long delays at the gates into the park during peak hours 9am-6pm)
Hwy 140 – open (expect delays at the gate during peak hours 9am-6pm)
Hwy 120 – Closed with a possible open date of June 10th
Tioga Pass – Closed with a mid-late summer opening
Glacier Point Road – (includes Glacier Point & Taft Point) Closed until mid to late July – delays 30min + even after opening due to road construction
Flooding –
Well most of the meadows, rivers, and some parking lots are flooded right now because of the melting snow pack, there is no reservation system this year so traffic tends to get backed up at the gate during peak hours 9am-6pm – with as long as 3hr wait times (on the weekends). Parking is very limited there are times they just have traffic circle the valley because there is no parking. Basically visiting the park or having an elopement at the moment takes patience and flexibility!!
Venues inside the Park –
They are still renovating the Ahwahnee Hotel and it looks like they may book events for the end of 2023 and 2024. Their site says they are not booking at the moment and does not have contact information but we can connect with them to see if a date you would like is open. This also includes the Yosemite Lodge, Wawona Hotel and Curry Village.
Redwoods in Yosemite is open for booking events (if you are doing something small they are definitely worth a look!!)
Yosemite Chapel they are open with limited booking for 2023 not booking 2024 yet
Venues outside the Park –
Rush Creek, Evergreen Lodge, Tenaya Lodge, are all just outside the park entrance gates and they are open and booking events.
Other locations outside the park but definitely worth a look –
Chateau Du Sureau, They are a Gorgeous option for a small event and I also highly recommend booking a dinner or a night stay here! One of my favorite places, it feels like you’re in another part of the world!
